Olafur Eliasson was born in 1967 in Copenhagen to Icelandic parents. Since 1993 he lives and works in Berlin where he established Studio Olafur Eliasson, a laboratory in addition to the trials of the artist is also impegnato in progetti architettonici. Nel 2003 Eliasson rappresenta la Danimarca alla Biennale di Venezia dove presenta The blind pavilion, mentre nella Biennale del 2005 ha presentato Your black horizon all’isola di San Lazzaro degli Armeni. Del 2003 è anche il lavoro che gli da popolarità mondiale: The weather project, allestito nella turbine hall della Tate Modern a Londra, viene visto da oltre due milioni di spettatori. E' in preparazione la più grande retrospettiva mai organizzata sul suo lavoro - Take Your Time, a cura di Madeleine Grynsztejn - che inaugurerà l'8 settembre 2007 all'SFMoMA e nell'aprile del 2008 al MoMA di New York.
