"The goal is to promote the area through the enhancement of quality enogastronomy" he told the mayor of Saint Lucia del Mela , geom. Un territorio che, come ha sottolineato il presidente dell' associazione " Strada e rotte del vino " della provincia di Messina, Ruggero Vasari, è caratterizzato da una ricca produzione di vini di qualità, esportati all'estero, dei quali deve essere orgoglioso. Vasari ha ricordato il ruolo di primo piano svolto da Santa Lucia del Mela nella produzione del " Mamertino doc ", vino di antichissima e nobile tradizione - risalente ai romani - ricavato da una pregevole vite. L'evento è stato organizzato dal comune di Santa Lucia del Mela e dalle associazioni "Strada e rotte del vino", "Pro.sca", "Axum", con il patrocinio della Provincia Regionale di Messina e dell'Assessorato all'agricoltura della Regione Siciliana. I fondi raccolti saranno destinati ad un progetto pro-Etiopia della Onlus Axum, rappresentata nel corso della conferenza stampa dal dott. Paolo Calderone, assessore alle attività culturali del comune luciese: "Con le offerte della giornata si contribuirà alla realizzazione di un laboratorio di formazione nel sud dell’Etiopia, come base per tutti i missionari che collaboreranno con l’associazione Axum ai fini della formazione in medicina, agricoltura, artigianato e in tutti i settori utili allo sviluppo di una zona poverissima Horn of Africa in which the association is performing well for some time. "
